I Killed Andy Warhol

Valerie Solanas may have shot Andy Warhol, but I killed him. What was meant to be an offhand comment about a Cars video seemingly changed his hospital bed to his death bed. Do I regret it? Yes, of course. But people are much nicer to me now.

"Hi Sinners!
I'm Sister Mary Mortification, and I'm going to kill your spirit!"

Doesn't she look happy? To be fair, this photo is from "Nunsense", so she's supposed to be having fun.

I had the good fortune of seeing "Women In Black" - a film by Claudia Sherwood, about the experiences of several baby-boomers at the hands of nuns while they were in school.

I endured 16 years of Catholic schooling (yeah, I went to a Catholic college. what was I thinking?!) and I remember all too well the corporal punishment and the feelings of shame, humiliation, fear, and helplessness. It was much like the military. They had to kill your spirit to get you to fall in line. I vowed I would never send my kids to a catholic school, and everyone else must have felt the same, because all the catholic schools are closed or closing due to lack of enrollment. Short-sightedness on their parts.... don't beat your future customers!
